Eligibility & Educational Qualification

Educational Qualification

  • It is mandatory that the applicant has acquired the requisite educational qualification(s) by the last date for applying.
  • The date when the result is declared by universities/institutions is considered as the date of acquiring the qualification.
  • The degree or certificate must be from a recognized university/institution.

Validity of Certain Degrees / Certificates

  • As per a recent judgment (Hon’ble Delhi High Court, WP(C) 3239/2013, judgment dated 13 Jan 2023) and letter from Ministry of Education (6 June 2023):
    • Degrees/certificates from the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunications Engineers (India) and the Aeronautical Society of India, if taken admission after 31 May 2013, will not be admissible for general posts (i.e. “Graduate in any discipline or technical posts with specified degrees”).
    • Degrees from the Institution of Engineers (India), taken admission post 31 May 2013, have eligibility conditional on further government decision.
  • Aspirants with such degrees must verify whether their qualification is recognized under this advertisement.

This clause is critical in aspirants’ eligibility — avoid applying with degrees that may be disqualified under the proviso.

Reservation, Roster & State Policy

  • Posts will be filled according to the State Reservation Policy and roster system as applicable in Meghalaya.
  • The advertisement mentions that roster as per State Reservation Policy & eligibility will apply for each post (in PARA-1).
  • Aspirants from reserved categories (SC, ST, OBC, etc.) should check the roster allotment and reservation rules relevant to Meghalaya.

Exam Centers & Flexibility

Candidates can choose from the following exam centers while applying:

  • Shillong
  • Tura
  • Jowai
  • Williamnagar
  • Nongstoin

However, the commission reserves the right to change or modify exam center(s) depending on the number of applications received and preferences opted by candidates.

So don’t treat your exam center choice as guaranteed — mark backups or be ready for change.
