Eligibility, Age and Standards

The essential degree requirement and physical standards are common to both posts in the supplied 2024 notifications.

Educational qualification

A Bachelor’s degree with at least one of Agriculture, Agricultural Engineering, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Forestry, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Zoology or Environmental Science; honours in a related subject; or a degree in Civil, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.

Age limit on 1 August 2024

  • Minimum age: 21 years
  • UR / EWS: 35 years
  • EBC-I / BC-II: 37 years
  • Women (UR/EBC/BC): 38 years
  • SC / ST: 40 years
  • Ex-servicemen: category limit plus 5 years

Selection and qualifying marks

Five stages: Preliminary (when applicable), Main written examination, physical test, interview and medical examination. Physical and medical tests are mandatory qualifying stages.

JPSC ACF and FRO FAQs

How many optional subjects are required in JPSC FRO?

FRO candidates select one optional subject. It has Paper I and Paper II, each carrying 200 marks.

How many optional subjects are required in JPSC ACF?

ACF candidates select two optional subjects. Each optional has two papers of 200 marks, making 800 optional-subject marks.

Are the language papers counted in final merit?

No. General Hindi and General English together carry 100 qualifying marks. A candidate needs at least 30 marks, but these marks are excluded from merit.

Is the preliminary examination always conducted?

The official advertisements permit JPSC to hold Prelims when applications exceed ten times the vacancies; otherwise eligible candidates may be admitted directly to Mains.

Are the physical test and medical test qualifying?

Yes. Both are mandatory qualifying stages for FRO and ACF candidates.
