Kodaikanal Lake, also known as Kodai Lake is a manmade lake located in the Kodaikanal city in Dindigul district in Tamilnadu, India. Sir Vere Henry Levinge, the then Collector of Madurai, was instrumental in creating the lake in 1863, amidst the Kodaikanal town which was developed by the British and early missionaries from the USA. Kolleru Lake is one of the largest freshwater lakes in India located in the state of Andhra Pradesh and forms the largest shallow freshwater lake in Asia, 15 kilometers away from the Eluru and 65 km from Rajamahendravaram, it is located between Krishna and Godavari deltas. Nainital, also known as Naini Lake, is a natural freshwater body, situated amidst the township of Nainital in Kumaon. It is tectonic in origin and is kidney-shaped or crescent-shaped and has an outfall at the southeastern end. Renuka lake (a natural lake) is in the Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh in India and it is 672 m above sea level. It is the largest lake in Himachal Pradesh, with a circumference of about 3214 m.
